Rosa Logar - Chair Woman

Rosa Logar is one of the founders of the first Austrian women's shelter in 1978. Rosa is a national and international women's human rights activist and co-founder of the european network WAVE - Women Against Violence Europe, a lecturer at the School for Social Work in Vienna, and she is the director of the 1998 founded Domestic Violence Intervention Program in Vienna and has been a member of the governmental working group drafting the new Domestic Violence Bill in Austria. Further fields of work include violence prevention, training for police, judges and other professionals and research. Rosa Logar has written numerous articles as well as information and training material and is co-author and co-editor of several books on violence against women and children. Currently Rosa is one of eight experts in the Council of Europe Task Force to Combat Violence Against Women, including Domestic Violence.

Maria Rösslhumer - Director

Maria Rösslhumer was born in a small town in Upper Austria in 1960. She is a family counsellor, pedagogue for handicapped people and political scientist. Since 1997 Maria is director of the Austrian Women´s Shelter Network and since 2006 one of the deputies of the Austrian Frauenring, one of the umbrella organizations for women NGOs in Austria. Since 2008 Maria is expert member of the observatory in the European Women´s Lobby, EWL. She is an expert in the field of domestic violence against women, gender-based violence, violence within the family, gender and women's politics and gender mainstreaming.

Miriam Freudenberg was born in Wiesbaden, Germany and moved to Vienna in 2006. She studies media science and cultural anthropolgy and is currently working on her final thesis. She is in charge of the public relations of WAVE, the coordination of WAVE's magazine FemPower and maintains the website.

Alina Zachar, psychologist, was from January 2006 till Dec. 2008 at WAVE, responsible for WAVE network coordination as well as Daphne projects "Bridging Gaps" and "IMPROVE", currently she is also in charge for the part of WAVE within the PROGRESS project "GenderWorks". Previously Alina was with the association Frauenhetz, wrote articles for An.schläge and in 2005 she did an internship within the European Womenslobby in Brussels.
