Ad Hoc Committee on Preventing Violence against Women (CAHVIO)
The Committees task is to prepare a legally binding instrument to prevent and combat domestic violence including specific forms of violence against women, to protect and support the victims of such violence and to prosecute the perpetrators. The newly constituted Ad Hoc Committee on Preventing and Combating Violence against Women and Domestic Violence of the Council of Europe launched its website and gathered for the first time in spring 2009.

The website provides information regarding the Ad Hoc Committee, Document on Elements for Discussion, A Compilation of International Legal Instruments, the draft agenda of the Ad Hoc committee meetings, and other information. The fist meeting of the Ad Hoc Committee tooke place on the 6-8 of April 2009, the second on 25-27 of May 2009 in Strasbourg and the last meeting is set down for 1st to 3rd of December 2009.
